My Favorite Scones

Scones. What is there to say about scones? They are the most perfect thing in the whole universe. Soft, tender, fluffy scone covered in rich clotted cream and sweet jam. It's a mouthful of heaven. It is perfection.

I could wax poetic about my favorite cookbook, River Cottage Handbook No. 3 ~ Bread, by Daniel Stevens, but I will spare you all. It is beloved in our house. And, the scones in this book are my all time favorite.

I used local cream. It must be said, milk and cream from a local dairy cannot be rivaled. There's something to be said for happy cows, free to roam the land and live a sweet life. Happy animal equals a more delicious product. The richness and full flavor of this cream is proof of that.

This is one of those recipes that always works. Every time, the scones come out light, fluffy and flavorful. They are a dream. The recipe for the scones can be found here.

We had our scones with the usual Bonne Maman Strawberry Jam. For a special treat we picked up some jams and jellies from the The Green Briar Nature Center in Sandwich, MA. It's right off Route 6A and if you ever find yourself travelling the Cape, it's worth a stop. We snatched up a delectable Apple Pie Jam that will knock your socks off! It was amazing on top of the clotted cream and scone. Wow!

A sweet treat for a Sunday morning breakfast.
